How to protect my hair from straightening?

I use a Chi straightener, great straightener no doubt, bought it with my own money, I felt really proud. My problem is, when I straighten it, I get that gucky burnt smell of my hair burning, probaly because I'm not protecting it well enough, I just use a little spray. Which is horrible.

If you could recommend me some great protectors, please do, or tips.

i use the Loreal studio line heat protection. Its a cream that you put in your hair when its damp, like right when you get out of the shower. its protects your hair and leaves it smelling pretty good.

i had the same problem..and the straightener smelled gross when i used it.

now..no problems.

it only costs like 5-6 bucks.

Umm, CHI has nice products to protect your hair, look into that. I usually use mouse or anti-friz to protect it more.

Oh and the smell is normal, it means your hair is getting heated with the straightener, happens with CHI straighteners and other good company ones.

I use a gel by treseme when I straighten my hair. It helps to relax your hair and it's one of those heat formulas so my hair doesn't smell or look burnt, it's sleek and shiny ( so much better then frizzy curls.)

When i bought my straightner i bought this straightning oil and shampoo made by CHI and it helps your hair NOT burn and makes it silky! It can be pretty expensive- but its so worth it! i bought it from trade secrets. Theres also a product called biosilk- you can get it at any hair salon.
