Any hair-straightening tips?

I'm about to straighten my hair (which is drastically curly). Does anyone have any tips?

*I have straightened my hair before, I'm just looking for tips*

Any hair-straightening tips?

i have curly hair, too, and i always have to straighten it.

i use sunsilk! straightening shampoo and conditioner, and there are some sprays that help with frizz. when you straighten it often, i know it becomes frizzy, especially if you dye it, too. herbal essences also makes a hair gel to apply to wet hair that helps calm down the frizziness; it also helps to keep it flat and straight.

start by pulling some of your hair up and straightening what's left down. keep pulling it up in sections and straighten like that.

it helps make it ultra flat, straight, and sleek!

also, brush through your hair with a fine-toothed comb to help flatten it a little before and after you straighten. it also takes out some of the curl.

when i began combing after i straightened, i realized it helped tons!

other than that, it helps if you go really slowly and have smaller sections while you straighten. don't just pull the flat iron over your hair quickly; it doesn't help at all.

let the straightener heat up for at least five minutes, even if it's a 30-second warm-up one. it helps it keep the heat steady, making sure your hair is equally straight all over.

also make sure to check the back with a mirror, because there are often hidden kinks back there.

the under-layers of your hair are probably the most important to straighten, because they're very much in control of the volume, so make sure you straighten there too!

make sure it's on its highest heat setting, too. it's better to go over your hair once with a high setting than two or three times with a medium one. i'm pretty sure it also helps reduce frizz. :)

i hope this helped!

have fun primping! :)

1. well each time before you straighten a strip of hair you might want to spray some straightener gaurd on it so it doesnt get damaged.

2. instead of getting a huge amount of hair get a small amount and straighten it slowly.

3. dont hold the straightener at one spot because it will make an indent in your hair that wont straighten back out.

4. after your done spray some more stuff in your hair to keep it soft and smooth and so it wont get all big and frizzy after awhile

i have very curly hair and i straighten it often as well. This is what I do and it seems to work and keep my hair in good condition. Shower at night; and when you get out use a leave in conditioner...hair serum...straightening gel, anything and then put your hair in pigtail braids. This will 'get rid of' some of your curl. Then sleep on it, and straighten it the next day. If your hair is anythign like mine it will be less curly and wavy in the morning and easier to manage and less time to straighten as opposed to straightening tight spiral curls. Not saying you have to do this exactly but braids are usually a good idea, it just makes hair more managable.

put most of it up, but leave down a medium- thickness layer, straighten that first. then straighten the next layer. Go slowly, and do this to all of the layers. You could also get some straight serum or anti frizz serum to top it off. Garnier Fructis smoothing milks helps if you put it on after so your hair looks smooth and silky. hope that helped!! =)

DON'T use GHD's!!! They leave your hair all burnt!

I wouldn't know about straightening, my hair is soooooo unbelievably straight!
