Hair gel & hair straightening?

Hi, I have wavy hair, 5-7 inches length and I want them straight

Is it possible to straighten such short hair?

If no, what hair gel do you recommend? I need really strong fixation then

thanks a lot

Of course you can straighten 5-7 in. hair! Go for it!

How you do it depends on what you want. Do you want this to be permanent? Just for the day?

If you want to do it for the day, I recommend deep conditioning your hair, then dry it (it doesn't matter if it is fuzzy) Use Paul Mitchell Spray Wax all over your hair (mostly on the ends). Don't use TOO much, you don't want a grease pit. Then, flat iron your hair. If you are going to be ironing it often, I would invest in a good iron, such as the Chi. (I was a hairdresser for three years, and the Chi was very good to me)

If you want something permanent, you need to go to a reputable salon and let someone physically look at your hair. No one can tell you anything without touching and seeing your hair. When it comes to chemicals, you can never be too careful!

Good luck!

just get a straightener and a good product is skinny serum by paul mitchel apply it in dam hair then let it airdry then straighten it... it usually cost like 15$ at a salon

It's very possible to straighten it! :) You can have a chemical straightening session which will actually leave your hair entirely straight until it starts to grow out (in which case the new hair will be wavy, whereas the older hair will not be; a negative). Also, you can just have a hair stylist put some products into your hair while she/he uses either a straightener or just blow dries your hair straight.

I would purchase a smoothing/straightening cream. John Freida makes a good one. If your hair is naturally wavy, you may wish to use a ceramic flat iron to straighten your hair. Many girls use these with great results. Does your hairdresser give you a blowout when you have your hair cut and styled? I know it is hard to achieve the look of a blowout at home, so I would recommend you purchase a ceramic flat iron. They can be pricy however, but they are sturdy, less damaging on your hair than conventional flat irons, and give you the salon look at home without the price.

yeah, i bet you can with a little patience! also try putting in straightening balm before you use a straightening iron, or even just plain suave hair gel will help.

i was born with naturally curly hair, so believe me, i know what your going through. Always make sure your hair is very conditioned!! Don't use a gel or hairspray with alcohol (this causes drying and breakage). The best straightener that I've used was a Chi.. but if your looking for something cheap and effective, use "Wet 2 Straight". I believe its made by ConAir (I think) and can be found at drug stores and walmarts.. etc.

Well, it should be possible. Hair gel makes it look greasy. I tried it. *Shudder*
