So in the morning, i straighten my hair, but then after an hour or so the ends start to get flipped again. is there anything i can do or use to keep it straight?

whatever you do don't put water on it, it'll only work temporarily, try taking more time to straighten. try a GHD straighter they're costly but they work like gold!

otherwise, you can try other types of straighteners
